Pomona

Pomona QLD May 26th - 30th 2013

Visiting Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Noosa.

Pomona show-grounds were a delight, with plenty of room for camping with great views. The town although quite small had oodles to see and do and was a short walk away. The cafe's were in abundance as were the Op shops!
We both love browsing the many charity shops we see on our travels and normally come away with a bargain (we just need to find somewhere to put it all).

Pomona showground, with Mount Cooroora in the distance.

Yes pomona was a very nice place indeed and so friendly. It also enabled us to visit many seaside locations along the coast from our home-base of Pomona.

Mooloolaba.

Steve Irwin memorial at Mooloolaba, depicted with son Robert and daughter Bindi. Carved out of Queensland marble by sculptor Silvio Apponyi. It was very touching to see this tribute, to a great conservationist.

Mooloolaba esplanade, lots and lots of eateries. Sadly very much of a muchness with every other esplanade we have seen so far. The prices at some of the cafe's and restaurants were ridiculously overpriced and we decided on a little back street Thai.
The food was great and we really enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of the main drag!

N Thai Sing made us a wonderful lunch fresh and very very tasty. I would recommend this little eatery to anyone!
Noosa.

We had heard great things about Noosa and couldn't wait to see it for ourselves. Calling in at the information centre at Noosaville we set off on our one hour plus trek to Hastings street.

Our starting point. 'The big pelican' Nossavile, it seemed a very strange creature indeed and would be more suited in a Disney theme park! Very strange.
We had only been walking for about twenty minutes when the heavens opened, if this is the Sunshine Coast? I think a rename is in order.

Casper was duly un-impressed with the rain and look decidedly cheesed off with his tail between his legs.

Nearly as cheesed off looking as these two? I wonder which where they got the idea from as there are similar looking gents in Melbourne CBD.

Hastings street at last so what is all the fuss about?

To be fair to Noosa it was very nice with its boutique shops and wonderful cafe's. However it seemed very commercial and a bit too touristy for my liking. Hastings street is the place to be if you want to see or be seen!
Caloundra. Mooloolaba and Noosa were all very nice places, but seem to be all very much the same, very touristy. I suppose that with more time and better weather we may have come away from them with a better feeling.
