Kepple sands was not what we thought it would be (for various reasons) and with hindsight we wouldn't have visited. We choose the caravan park mainly due to cost and at $27 per night was one of the cheapest in the area. The scenery however was wonderful.
Mangroves to the left and the Coral sea to the right.
Although the view was spectacular it really wasn't worth the effort. We were about three quarters of the way up when the mozzies attacked. Both myself and Andrea received six bites, we charged back down the hill side like things possessed! Things could have been worse I suppose as we were greeted by a different sign when we eventually reached sea level.
YOU DONT SAY!
When we returned back to camp we were met by the caravan park caretaker (female, which is of no consequence) who gave us the biggest load of cods wallop we have ever heard. It went something like this.
"As the caravan park is council owned we are not allowed to have large dogs within the park, sorry but we will have to ask you to leave" Before this conversation took place both myself and Andrea had seen larger dogs than Casper in and around the camp site. One had even had the audacity to make its presence felt with a growl or two.
Andrea had seen the caretaker approximately 20 mins earlier as she left the pub with her friend to much mutterings under their breath, we presume about Casper.
We have always obeyed camp site rules and have always picked up after Casper and always ensured that he was on a lead at all times. It is ironic that during the conversation about Casper and his eviction, the caretakers dog (a Silky) came trotting over to us without a care in the world. Without a lead and unsupervised.
Kepple sands caravan have DOUBLE STANDARDS! We were pleased to leave.
Scenery looks magnificent
